Monterey Avenue
Mannering Park NSW

This is a large and well-priced property in a lakefront location, with fabulous views.

Overall rating?      Excellent

What makes Big 4 Lake Macquarie different?
This is a caravan park, but once you are inside you feel as though you have your own space and privacy.  The park is in a waterfront lake location; with plenty of trees for shade and the local shops are only a stroll away.

Accommodation overview
The cottage has two bedrooms, there is a parents’ retreat upstairs, with a queen-size bed and balcony, air conditioning and fan. The second bedroom is downstairs and also has a queen-size bed, along with two bunks.

Facilities overview
This is a lakefront spa cabin, so the bathroom has a great spa bath and there is a large and comfortable deck overlooking the water.  The downstairs area is tiled – making it easy to sweep up any sand the kids may track in, while upstairs is carpeted.  There are views from the master bedroom, the lounge/dining room and of course, the decks.

There is a well-equipped kitchen with all you will need to produce meals, including a  convection microwave.  Some cottages have BBQs on the deck (ours didn’t), but there is a BBQ only a short distance away.   The park  also has a swimming pool, lots of grass for the kids to run around and a jetty if you want to dangle a line.

Location
On Lake Macquarie, about 1.5 hours from Sydney.  Take the F3, exit at Wyong and follow the Pacific Highway.  There are signs to the park.

Suitable for children?   Yes, the kitchen makes mealtime easy, plastic cups are provided and the pool spa bath and TV will keep them happy. Plenty of room for them to run around.

Suitable for pets?          No

Wheelchair access?      No, not this cabin, but check for your requirements.

Perfect for?
Families or groups of families or friends holidaying together, as the property has several cabins.

Why stay longer?
This is a great place to relax and chill out… wander along the lake, fish from the jetty – or bring your boat and head out into the channel.  The kids will love the pool and the adults will love relaxing on the deck, watching the sailing boats go by.  We loved having fish and chips on the beach, picnics on the lakefront and even bad weather wasn’t a problem, with the TV in the cabin and movies at the local mall.  There are plenty of other things to do - beaches, ten pin bowling, shopping … you won’t be bored!

Why you wouldn’t stay longer?
If the wet weather had set in and you had exhausted the local attractions, or the lure of night clubs and night life was too strong.

Pricing
Our cabin was $200 for the night, but there are extra charges for additional adults/children, so check the listing for details.
