Review - Emma’s Cottage Vineyard

Emma’s Cottage Vineyard
438 Wilderness Road, Rothbury
Hunter Valley

Wander from the cellar door to your cottage door.

This vineyard property has it all for the wine buff! Located in the heart of the Hunter Valley, the cottages are pretty and peaceful. A great place to stay for those who love to do some wine tasting … and if you make the Emma’s Cottage Vineyard your last stop for the day, they you can wander from the cellar door to your own front door!

Overall rating?  Excellent

What makes Emma’s Cottage different?

There is a sense of serenity as you look out at the vines, the dam and the horses … a real feeling of country life conveniently located in a vineyard.  Sitting on the veranda it is easy to imagine yourself to be miles away from the every day, and yet it is only a stroll to the cellar door.

Accommodation overview

The two cottages are completely self-contained, with 2 bedrooms with queen size beds (one of which could be changed to two single beds) and there is 1 communal bathroom.  The loft has 1 bedroom and is also completely self-contained. Both cottages have a lounge and dining area.

Facilities overview

The kitchen has a modern cook-top and dishwasher and all utensils are supplied.  The veranda has a BBQ and comfortable outdoor setting, and of course the cellar door is temptingly close!  The hosts Alec & Megan are helpful and knowledgeable and Megan’s artwork is displayed throughout the cottages and is also available for sale from the cellar door.

Location

Take the F3 from Sydney and after about 80 kms take the Cessnock/Kurri Kurri exit. From Cessnock take the Wine Country Drive and then turn right into Wilderness Road.

Suitable for children? Yes,
Suitable for pets? No
Wheelchair access? Depends. While there are no stairs, the driveway is gravel and access to cottage from the veranda could be troublesome due to the door-track. Check with the hosts for your particular needs.

Perfect for

Relaxing on the veranda and enjoying the wonderful rural vista – glass of wine in hand – or walking the country lanes.  A great base to visit galleries and wineries and only a short drive to the restaurants in Cessnock.  Emma’s Cottage Vineyard is ideal for families, couples and groups.

Why stay longer?

To enjoy the peace and quiet and country views, and visit more wineries or galleries.

Why you wouldn’t stay longer?

You’ve had enough relaxation and were craving the big city or nightlife. The property is 15 minutes away from the restaurants in Cessnock.
