Kiwarrak Country Retreat

26 Half Chain Road, Old Bar
Manning Valley NSW

Beautiful gardens give you time to take a deep breath away from everyday life.

Overall rating?
Great

What makes Kiwarrak Country Retreat different?
There are glorious and extensive gardens, set around a hobby farm, and the nearby State Forest makes it feel remote, yet the property is only 10 minutes from Taree and Old Bar.

Accommodation overview
The Kiwarrak Country Retreat consists of a self-contained cottage, comprising two bedrooms with queen-size beds – the main with ensuite - and a sofa bed in the spacious lounge area. The kitchen is also spacious as is the very large second bathroom.

The studio is a true studio and has a queen-size bed, along with dining and living area, small separate kitchen and bathroom.

Camp beds and portable cot are available for both cottage and studio on request.

Facilities overview
Breakfast supplies including juice, milk, cereal, bread & butter and tea and coffee are on hand.  Both cottage and studio have their own private spa and undercover barbecue area with alfresco dining facilities. As well, each has an outdoor sitting area with wicker lounge. There is abundant birdlife to enjoy, along with bird feeding facilities. The combustion fire in the cottage is a cosy and welcoming addition.

Location
About 3 hours north of Sydney along the F3 and Pacific Highway.

Suitable for children?
Yes but toddlers will need to be watched as the dam in the middle of the property is not fenced

Suitable for pets?
No, two friendly border collies and two cats live on the property.

Wheelchair access?
Possible, check for your particular needs

Perfect for?
Great for a couple, a group of couples or the family and if you took both cottage and studio, it would suit extended family.  If you are a garden lover, bird lover – or both – then you will love wandering the gardens with the lovely little spots to sit and ponder. Look for the bower bird nest, spot the hunting kookaburras and enjoy the many colourful species of birds that share the gardens with you.

Why stay longer?
There is a lot to see in the local area and in summer you will be spoiled for choice by the number of lovely and varied beaches in close proximity. We loved bush walking and exploring the many National Parks and quaint old towns close by - Wingham is a must, and there is great fishing at Saltwater or Manning Point.

Why you wouldn’t stay longer?
The peaceful location means that it may not appeal to teenagers and older kids, however the nearby beaches are a plus. This isn’t the place for you if you don’t like to drive while on holidays, as shops and restaurants are a little distant.

Pricing
The prices vary depending on number of guests and time of year, so check the listing for the most current pricing.
