Review - Yanderra Estate Farmstay
  • River

121 Roach Road, Lower Pappinbarra

Wauchope, NSW

Show the kids what a farm is really like…
The mid coast of NSW is a gorgeous part of the world and a great place take the family to enjoy the natural wonders of the area, such as the Ellensborough Falls.  Why not show them some other natural wonders, like real chooks laying real eggs, feeding baby goats and just generally getting in touch with nature.

Overall rating?
Great

What makes Yanderra different?
This is a working farm that raises a variety of cattle, it is set in the beautiful and rugged countryside around Wauchope and gives kids the chance to play in the bushland, fish in the river, round up the cattle and more.

Accommodation overview
The guest quarters are self-contained, with two comfortable bedrooms and a sunroom that converts into a third bedroom, if needed. The main bedroom has a queen bed and small kitchenette and veranda. The second bedroom has two sets of bunks and the sunroom has two lounges that convert to beds. The bathroom is off the living area.  The bedrooms are air-conditioned.

Facilities overview
There is a large living area with a wood fire, an open plan kitchen, a pool table, verandah with BBQ and a dartboard. There are goats to feed, eggs to find, a river to swim in, an orienteering course, cattle round up and damper and billy tea to enjoy.  The expansive views of the farmland and surrounding countryside ooze peace and serenity and it is wonderful to slow down to the natural pace of the land.  The guest quarters are self-catering.

Location
Take the F3 freeway and continue on the Pacific Highway heading north from Sydney.  Turn off the highway at Wauchope.  Yanderra is 14km (20 mins) from Wauchope.

Suitable for children?
Absolutely – made for kids up to early teens

Suitable for pets?
No, this is a working farm

Wheelchair access?
Possible, check for your specific needs

Perfect for?
Families, couples or extended families looking to spend time together in a serene and pretty location, where children can learn that eggs don’t always come in cardboard cartons.

Why stay longer?
To explore more of the peaceful, scenic area and go a little farther afield, such as historic Timbertown.  The area abounds in flora and fauna and has that special quality of light that makes photographs something special.  Horse-riding is another attraction of the area.

Why you wouldn’t stay longer?
You wanted to get back to the bright lights, or prefer to be close to shops, cafes and restaurants.  Yanderra is ideal for younger children, older kids could become bored with the lack of electronic excitement they may be used to.

Prices
Rates vary depending on which option you choose (self-catered or B&B) so check the listing for details.  We paid $165 per night.
