What makes Scotland Island Lodge different?
Rosemary and Colin have a beautiful property – spacious, north-facing and airy, comfortably furnished and with all the facilities you could wish for. The breakfasts are outstanding and the dinners would give many local restaurants a run for their money.
Pittwater is an unspoilt corner of the world that abounds in local wildlife, fabulous views and has a pervading sense of serenity. Scotland Island Lodge is great accommodation in a fabulous location.
Accommodation overview
There are three rooms, one with a king-size bed and ensuite, another has a queen/twin room with its own bathroom and the third is the garden room, with an ensuite and heated spa pool. The modern furnishings, spacious rooms and polished floorboards give a sense of welcome and relaxation.
Facilities overview
The bush surrounds truly make you feel you are far away from the day to day. The island itself has a number of walks and there are Aboriginal rock carvings nearby. A kayak is provided, giving a great way to explore the waterways. If you prefer to spend your time relaxing, there are a number of DVDs, CDs and board games, along with a well-stocked bookcase. The gardens are a lovely place to while away the time, while listening to the local birdsong.
Location
Scotland Island Lodge is about an hour from the city. Travel north along Pittwater Road and turn left at Mona Vale, following the signs to Church Point. There is plenty of parking and the ferry runs regularly.

Perfect for:
Ideal for couples looking for a magic place to spend time together, or a group of up to 6 adults looking for a weekend away with a difference. There is plenty to do, with the island having a number of wonderful walks, such as the one to Elvina Bay, which leads to your own private rock pool. Take the ferry from nearby Palm Beach to Ettalong on the Central Coast or down to Bobbin Head. This is an absolute treat and gives a real feeling of the beauty of the sandstone basin that houses Sydney.
Why stay longer?
Just to unwind in the magnificent surroundings of the Ku-ring-gai National Park, catch a fish from one of the public jetties or to wander around the shops at Mona Vale or Avalon. There are so many opportunities to explore the waterways and Scotland Island Lodge is perfectly placed to make the most of them. The meals are superb and the hosts are always available but never intrusive.
Why you wouldn’t stay longer?
Other than the sense of peace and serenity and glorious bushland, there are no real attractions on the island. If you were looking for nightlife, this is not the ideal place to stay.
