Editor's Choice - Wings Resort & Spa

As parts of Australia are moving towards the cooler weather, it is worth remembering that the Gold Coast is a great destination all year round, with autumn temperatures hovering around 25 degrees C and even in winter it is a balmy average of 21 degrees C.  Yes, you say, but it is water temperature that dictates a great autumn/winter beach holiday, right?  Right – and even in winter the average water temperature on the Gold Coast only drops to about 20 degrees C.

So why all the figures?  Well, some of us believe that summer should never end, and if you holiday at Wings Resort & Spa, you will find out that it doesn’t have to!  This is one of the most contemporary apartment complexes on the Gold Coast and all deluxe rooms have panoramic ocean views and balconies just made for dreaming away the hours while enjoying the sea breeze.

Wings Resort & Spa is just 200 metres from the beach and a 10 minute stroll to the Cavill Avenue restaurants and shops.  Even closer are the many cafes and restaurants at Surfers Paradise, as well as all you will need to stock up with groceries, should you choose.

Each fully self-contained apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with one king-size and one queen-size bed, and there is also a double sofa bed in the lounge room, so the configuration is very flexible, allowing up to six people to stay.  All linen is supplied, making your holiday packing much less of a chore.

The units are air-conditioned, have a full kitchen and laundry and the luxury of a spa bath as well.  The spacious living area and private balconies mean that there is plenty of room to get away from it all, and the units also have DVD/CD.  And who wants to wash dishes on a holiday?  You won’t have to, as each unit also has a dishwasher.

Tear yourself away from the luxury upstairs and head down to the heated lagoon-style pool, with its sandy ‘beaches’, safe children’s wading area, rocky waterfall, heated spa and timber decking.  Relax in one of the many sun lounges and read a book, while the kids amuse themselves.  The pool area is so well equipped, you may find it difficult to leave, even for the beach.  There is also a mini children’s playground, allowing little ones to really run off some energy.

So why not work up a sweat on the tennis court or in the gymnasium first and then head down to the beach for a dip in the famous waters or a snooze on golden sands?

For those who believe a real holiday means time off for the chef as well, Wings has an onsite restaurant featuring Belgian cuisine and beers.  Another option is to drift from the pool to the BBQ and cook dinner exactly as you wish, while keeping an eye on the children.

No visit to the Gold Coast is complete (for the kids at least) without a visit to the theme parks and they are an easy 20 minute drive away from Wings.  There are so many things to do in the area … Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the Australian Outback Spectacular, the glorious hinterland, wonderful shops and a variety of beaches offering conditions to suit everyone.

And Wings Resort & Spa is perfectly located to help you make the most of your time on the Gold Coast, so you will head home believing that Australia really is the land of the ‘endless summer’!
