Editor's Choice - "Henry Higgins"

Rye, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, has long attracted visitors from far and wide and it is easy to see why… glorious views, sweeping beaches, a feeling of being away from it all and yet so close to all the delights that a sophisticated city like Melbourne has to offer.  “Henry Higgins” is the perfect place to make the most of Rye and all its attractions.

This recently renovated two storey home is set among the privacy of tea trees and is situated on one of the highest points of Rye Back Beach, giving panoramic views of the Mornington Peninsula from Arthurs Seat to Cape Schanck Lighthouse.  It has five bedrooms and can sleep up to 13 people, making it the ideal getaway for families and friends, as everyone can sleep in comfort and privacy.

Three bedrooms feature queen-size beds – and one has an ensuite, while the fourth bedroom has two sets of bunks and the fifth another bunk bed, with a single above and a double bed below.  There is another bathroom (plus a third toilet), making it easy to wash the sand away after a day out exploring the delights of the region.

Of course, it may be difficult to tear yourself away from “Henry Higgins” as it has all the comforts you could wish for in a holiday home, including a 6 seater outdoor spa – and a 2 seater indoor spa – solar heated pool, magnificent views from the pool deck, a billiard table, table tennis table and dartboard… and that’s just for starters!

Imagine yourself relaxing in the cabana, complete with CD, gas BBQ, mini fridge, or enjoying the warmth of the open fireplace and wood-burning heater if you decide to make your escape in cooler weather.  The lounge has a 42” plasma TV (with Foxtel) for those who can’t bear to miss their favourite shows.

However wonderful the house, you will want to get out and explore all the great options nearby, from the beach only 500 metres away, to the famous Mornington Peninsula wineries and restaurants.

There are plenty of things to keep the kids happy, such as Ashcombe Maze, Sunnyridge Strawberry Farm and of course the beaches of Rye and Sorrento.  There is plenty for the big kids as well, with a choice of fabulous golf courses like the Dune Golf Links only 5 minutes away, as well as the Mornington Races (with 18 meetings a year) only a 30-minute drive away.  Try something completely different and soak in warm waters rich in healing minerals in the thermal pools of Peninsula Hot Springs.

Why not round up a group of friends and make “Henry Higgins” your base as you explore some of the renowned wineries such as T’Gallant and Red Hill Estate?  Once you have experienced the comfort and convenience of this wonderful property, and its sensational location, you will want to make it your ‘home away from home’.
