Editor's Choice - Rest @ Rye

The secret of a great holiday with the family is finding accommodation with all the comforts of home (or more!) in a location that offers something for everyone in the family.  Well, Rye on the Mornington Peninsula is a brilliant spot … close to the delights of Melbourne and yet far enough away to feel the cares of everyday life fade away.  And Rest @ Rye has everything you need to ensure that you can make the most of this great house – and the great location.

Rest @ Rye is perfectly located on the bayside – making it great for kids, and is also close to the ocean beaches of Rye and Sorrento - and was fully renovated in 2006, with a new bathroom added, polished floorboards and a lovely light and bright colour scheme.  It is ideal for summer and winter retreats, and features a front deck overlooking the fully fenced yard – the ideal place to relax while watching the kids play, and enjoying the complimentary bottle of wine.  There is a built-in BBQ on the deck, meaning you can watch dinner cook, and the family, at the same time.

The outdoor space extends to the back yard, which has loads of room for soccer or cricket, swings, a slide – and even that perennial kids’ favourite, the trampoline!

Move indoors to find the space continues, with the three bedrooms offering accommodation for up to 8.  The flexible configuration consists of a queen-size bed in the master room, two single beds in the second bedroom and two sets of bunks (with safety rails) in the third bedroom.  There is also a portacot available, meaning those with babies or toddlers can leave behind one cumbersome piece of equipment when they pack for the holiday.

You don’t want to worry about the quality or availability of crockery, utensils and accessories when you are on holiday – and you won’t have to.  The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a dishwasher, microwave and large fridge/freezer.  There is an eating area that accommodates 6 adults and an outdoor setting for 8.

After a day out and about there is always a rush for the showers, and Rest @ Rye has a main bathroom with a shower and hip bath, and a second shower in the laundry (which also has a washing machine and dryer, of course), meaning you can get the family clean quickly.

The house has all the little touches to make your stay relaxing and comfortable, including heating and air-conditioning, DVD/CD/TV and little touches like a coffee plunger for a great coffee to start the day or finish the evening.  Rest @ Rye is in a quiet residential area yet is close to restaurants, shops and the café culture of Rye and Blairgowrie.

The owners like to welcome guests back and offer a 5% discount on normal rates to return guests.
