Editor's Choice - Tokemata Retreat
  • Spacious accommodation
  • Relax by the solar heated pool
  • Improve your short game
  • Enjoy the golf driving range

The Murray River is an iconic part of Australia’s history and sense of self as a pioneering, bush-loving nation. At 2520km it is the longest river in Australia , and the length of this river means that it passes through many different landscapes – and offers many different experiences including fishing, cruising and relaxing on the sandy beaches.

Tokemata Retreat is nestled on 50 acres beside the famous red gum forests of the Murray and offers wonderful accommodation to suit a range of needs, and the peace and tranquillity of the delightful gardens is a bonus.

The region is famous for many things, including challenging golf courses such as Yarrawonga, Tocumwal and Cobram Barooga.  But it would be a mistake to think that golf is the only option in this wonderful region… choose from several well-known wineries, water sports on Lake Mulwala, gourmet delights from artisan providores of olive oil, cheese, honey and more, and of course, the stunning bushland habitats along the mighty Murray, with excellent walking and cycling tracks.

Tokemata Retreat offers flexible boutique accommodation and is the perfect base for exploring the region.  Choose from a range of cottages to suit a range of needs.  The one-bedroom cottages have a queen-size bed, sofa bed in the living room and there is also room for a foldout bed, meaning the cottage can sleep 4-5.

The two-bedroom cottage has a flexible configuration, with each bedroom featuring a king-size bed, or two singles.  One of the bedrooms also has another bed that would suit a small child and once again, there is a sofa bed in the living room, making the sleeping capacity 6-7.

Finally the spacious three-bedroom cottage can sleep up to 12-14 people, with its king-size beds, which can be split into singles and two of the rooms having space for foldout beds, while the lounge room has a sofa bed and a modular lounge that could also serve as a bed. The back living room has a futon that can be made up into a bed and also room for a foldout bed.

Whatever cottage you choose, you will find they all feature the little touches that make them something special, including the array of breakfast provisions provided and the stylish way in which they have been designed and decorated.  You can even arrange to have dinner cooked in your cottage, making your stay even more special.

The many accommodation options mean that Tokemata Retreat suits a range of holiday options from couples to families to groups of friends to singles.  The Retreat also has a full size golf driving range – complete with green and two bunkers - so you can hone your game before taking on one of the championship courses nearby.  For those who are not golfers, there is a tennis court and solar heated saltwater pool, and a playground for the kids.

The property borders both the bush and the Murray River and is just east of Cobram and around 3 hours driving time from Melbourne, 5 hours from Canberra and 8 hours from Adelaide and Sydney.  Do yourself a favour and swing by Tokemata Retreat for a holiday with a difference.
