Editor's Choice - Abelia Cottage

The Daylesford and Hepburn Springs region of Victoria is an absolute treat packed with stunning scenery, gorgeous places to stay and many, many ways to be pampered.  The region is famous for being in the forefront of the trend to holistic healing, and the plethora of day spas, restaurants, shops and sights means that you will never run out of things to do.

Abelia Cottage is perfectly placed to take advantage of the array of pleasures on offer.  The building is a replica of a miner’s cottage, but offers all mod cons inside.  There are two bedrooms – one with a king-size bed, the other has 3 king singles and there is a double sofa bed in the lounge room.  The cottage is fully self-contained and fresh linen is provided, along with electric blankets for cooler weather. The fully equipped kitchen also has a microwave – but with so many great restaurants nearby, you may find it hard to cook!

For lovers of indoor pursuits the living area has TV/DVD/CD, but we believe you will find it hard to stay inside when there is so much beauty on offer on the doorstep.

Venture as far as the verandah for glorious mountain views and enjoy the rosellas and cockatoos, which visit every afternoon.  Abelia Cottage is one of those places that are perfect anytime of year – warm and cosy in winter and cool in summer, and always with a sense of calm and serenity.

If you can’t bear to tear yourself away, then mobile masseurs can come to you, but there is so much on offer nearby … why not venture down the road to the Lavandula Lavender Farm for a start and breathe in the calming scent in everything from essential oils to hand creams.  Daylesford is famous for its array of restaurants, delis and coffee shops; its lake is a favourite with Victorians and Mt Franklin offers a view that few can match.

Hepburn Springs is only 90 minutes from Melbourne and has the highest concentration of mineral springs in the country – and a similar number of healing treatments for you to choose from!

But don’t think the region is just for those who love being pampered; the countryside is perfect for quad biking, fishing, bushwalking, horse riding and more.

Abelia Cottage is a great place to stay in one of the great regions of Australia.
