Editor's Choice - Shoalwater Bay Beach House

The Shoalwater Bay Beach House is a stylish home in glorious Rockingham, 50km south of Perth, Western Australia and just minutes from spectacular Shoalwater Beach and all the natural beauty of the region.

Just minutes from cafes, restaurants and shopping centres, the Beach House offers everything you need for the perfect getaway.  Imagine picnics on the beach while you watch the sun set over Seal Island and Shag Rock, walking to Penguin Island at low tide, snorkeling in the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park or simply lazing around in the spa in your own private courtyard.

The Beach House is a home away from home, offering all the comforts you could wish for … and a few you probably haven’t even thought of!  Top of most lists is the gorgeous heated spa in the intimate Mediterranean style courtyard.  In fact there are two courtyards, providing safety for your children, pets, boat or caravan.

The larger family courtyard opens from the main living room, features a sheltered patio garden area and is perfect for alfresco dining with a BBQ provided – and you can keep an eye on the kids as they amuse themselves on the lawn.

Everyone who stays at the Beach House loves the spa, and why not?  Easily seating five, the heated spa is tucked away in its own corner off the private courtyard … pop your drinks in the floating spa bar, turn on the bubbles and relax.

The accommodation is flexible enough to suit most needs … the master bedroom has a queen size bed and ensuite as does the second bedroom, the third bedroom has a single bed and the kids will love the bunks in the fourth bedroom. All rooms have fans and are beautifully decorated in keeping with the gorgeous location.  There is also a foldabed, so up to eight people can be comfortably accommodated in this great beach house.

One of the worst things about packing for a holiday is remembering all the linen – not a problem here, as all bedding, linen and towels are provided.  The house has all the features you need to ensure a relaxed holiday, with a fully–equipped kitchen, laundry, lock-up garage and so much more.

The open plan living area is ideal for relaxing after a day out at the beach and has everything you need to keep yourself (and the kids) amused, such as DVD/TV/CD, books and magazines.  The overhead fans are ideal for the hot summer days, and there are plenty of heaters for those who choose a winter break away. There is even a smaller formal lounge with bay windows – ideal for curling up with a book while the kids enjoy a DVD.

The Shoalwater Bay Beach and surrounding areas are perfect for all water sports, including swimming, fishing, crabbing, snorkeling, boating, and windsurfing. You can either walk to Penguin Island at low tide or take the ferry, except during the penguin breeding season. Peaceful Lake Richmond is just around the corner, with the Naragebup Environment Centre just opposite. Point Peron offers great walking opportunities, and is a terrific place for dolphin spotting.

At Old Rockingham Beach you will find a selection of cafes and restaurants to choose from for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Rockingham City Shopping Centre is open seven days a week during the holidays and has all the shops you will need.

Or just around the corner you have the convenience of the Shoalwater Shopping Centre's dozen specialty stores, including a supermarket open seven days a week all year round, a fish and chip shop, the George and the Dragon Hotel, a bakery, a chemist, and a newsagent.

Mandurah, with its waterfront holiday town feel, and Fremantle with its European-style cafe strip are both less than half an hour's drive away.
