Bargara is Bundaberg Region’s premier beachside resort, just 13kms – a short 10 minute drive – from Bundaberg city and only 4 hours from Brisbane. Bargara has a picturesque, newly-developed esplanade, complete with BBQ facilities and a playground featuring a giant turtle for the kids to go wild in! It has excellent shopping facilities, both luxury resort accommodation and caravan parks, first-class golf courses and a range of choices for the angler, diver or swimmer.
Just offshore, Woongarra Marine Park marks the beginning of the Southern Great Barrier Reef and offers numerous choice dive sites, such as Barolin Rocks, Hoffman’s Rocks and Double Rock. 4.5 kilometres out you will find Cochrane Artificial Reef, one of the best dive sites on the Queensland coast, dubbed by an Environment Australia Director as “the Rolls Royce of Artificial Reefs in Australia.”
Bargara was named “Queensland’s Best Small retirement Hotspot” in a recent edition of the Penguin Guide to Retirement Hotspots. It was selected due to its “picturesque village atmosphere, café culture and beaches,” as well as its close proximity to shops and Bundaberg infrastructure.
Bargara provides close access to tours of Lady Musgrave Island and Mon Repo Turtle Rookery, which supports the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the Eastern Australian mainland and is one of the two largest Loggerhead turtle rookeries in the South Pacific Ocean.
TakeABreak.com.au lists a wide variety of accommodation in Bargara from Holiday Houses through to Bed and Breakfasts and Resorts.
