Careel Bay Stay
101 George Street, Avalon, Northern Beaches
NSW

A perfect retreat for couples, nestled in the beautiful northern beaches.

This delightful retreat is the perfect place for you and your partner to relax and re-connect away from the pace of everyday life.  Located near Avalon village and beach, it offers the right blend of relaxation, indulgence and things to do.

Overall rating?
Excellent

What makes Careel Bay Stay different?
It is a modern house with designated parking for guests, and only caters to one couple at a time, so you are assured of privacy.  The house is immaculately presented and the hosts have thought of everything to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.  The breakfasts are amazing and reason enough to stay just to enjoy the range and quality on offer.  The B&B is less than 10 minutes from famous Palm Beach and a range of great restaurants and shops, and is located in a quiet road that sounds with birdsong.

Accommodation overview

The bedroom has a queen-size bed and complimentary bathrobes are provided, allowing guests to slough off their daily lives and slip into something truly more comfortable.  Afternoon tea is provided … enjoy individual custard and fruit tarts and a selection of teas and coffee.  The rooms have a relaxing, beachy ambience and while the bedroom is not overly large, it is perfectly sized for a couple.

Facilities overview

The relaxing seaside theme continues into the private, tiled living area, with a large TV, selection of CDs and DVDs, a full-size fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities and sliding doors which open on to the lagoon-style pool area, complete with sun lounges and outdoor spa. The pool is solar-heated and the sumptuous breakfast is served there each morning. A menu of hot and cold breakfast items is left in the room, and then served at the time nominated by the guest.  There is a range of quality toiletries provided and plenty of information of surrounding attractions, including an up-to-date cinema guide.  Both Avalon village and beach are a couple of minutes away by car, or a 15 minute walk.

Careel Bay Stay would be just as good for a winter getaway, as electric blankets, room and outdoor heaters are also provided.

Location
Careel Bay Stay is an easy 1 hour drive from the Sydney CBD.  George Street runs off Barrenjoey Road, which is the main artery through the northern beaches.

Suitable for children?
No

Suitable for pets?

No

Wheelchair access?
Not really, due to a step up from the pool area to the living room and limited room to manoeuvre in the bedroom.

Perfect for?
Couples looking to re-connect, ideal for a wedding night, and a great place to
stay if you are in town to visit friends or relatives on the northern beaches.  The
area abounds with choices of things to do … shopping, world-class beaches and
restaurants, bush-walking, sight-seeing – your only problem will be deciding if
you want to do it all, or do nothing at all except lounge around the pool!

Why stay longer?
To lounge around the pool and enjoy the sense of tranquillity, to visit Barrenjoey
Lighthouse and marvel at the view.  We loved our trip to nearby Church Point
and had a fabulous meal at Barrenjoey House restaurant.  There is so much to do
that it would take many stays at Careel Bay Stay to exhaust the options!

Why you wouldn’t stay longer?

If you are new to staying in B&Bs (even one as gorgeous as this) you may
initially feel that you don’t have the same privacy as with self-contained
accommodation, but that is, of course, part of the charm and the discretion and
great service from our hosts soon put us at our ease.
