122 Lurline Street Katoomba NSW This beautiful old home has been beautifully restored and maintained and exudes elegance and peace… the perfect mountain retreat. Overall rating?      Excellent What makes Lurline House different? The federation-style house is 99 years old and has that indefinable sense of history and place that makes it feel completely at home in the Blue Mountains. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Accommodation overview There are 7 bedrooms, all with ensuites and five of those rooms are spacious spa rooms.  All the rooms have four-poster beds with canopies and the furniture is exactly right for a property that is nearly 100 years old. Our room was not a spa room, and while not large, it was extremely comforta... Read more

13 Albert Street Leura, Blue Mountains NSW This cottage is picturesque, with beautiful gardens and everything you want to make your stay relaxing and comfortable.  It is tastefully furnished and exudes charm. Overall rating? Excellent What makes Matilda’s of Leura different? The weatherboard cottage looks ‘old world’ but was in fact designed to fit into the established gardens and look as though it has been there for many years.  However, this also means that the building has all the modern conveniences you could wish for in holiday accommodation. Accommodation overview There are three bedrooms, the spacious loft has its own bathroom and a queen-size bed, there is another bedroom with a queen-size bed and the third bedroom has two singles.  Th... 2-18 Closeburn Drive Mt Victoria  NSW This beautifully restored period guesthouse (circa 1885) located on serene Mount Victoria is perfect for an idyllic romantic getaway. The great service only adds to the old-world charm of the place. Overall rating?    Excellent What makes Closeburn House different? The guesthouse sits in thirteen acres of gardens, giving the property a unique sense of seclusion and escape. Accommodation overview The fully-restored house features ten ensuite rooms (able to accommodate up to twenty-two people in total), each configured slightly differently. However, the variety of rooms means that there is a room to suit every couple. We stayed in the beautiful and romantic bridal suite, as a lovely anniversary treat. Facilities overv... Read more

Blue Mountains – World Heritage area The Blue Mountains are just 90 minutes drive from Sydney, the perfect short break from the cosmopolitan city. Most famous for the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park, this area is a great place to explore at a leisurely pace. The mountain air is fresh, waterfalls plunge into sandstone valleys thick with the eucalypt forests that create the blue haze. Elegant spa retreats and cosy B&Bs have serene valley views, there are golf courses and bushwalks and some of the best dining in the State. The adventurous will love this terrain where you can safely abseil, try canyoning or rock-climbing in pristine surrounds.    As a popular retreat for Sydneysiders for over a century, the Blue Mountains offers an excellent choice of accomm... Review - Ambleside

Cosy up in the Blue Mountains Ambleside, Malvern Rd, Leura, Blue Mountains, NSW Ambleside is a delightful little cottage set amongst a well groomed and sunny garden in Leura. Arriving at the cottage with a wood fire already set and burning and information packs aplenty, not to mention the host’s great local briefing, we felt it was just what we needed for our weekend getaway in the Blue Mountains. Within close proximity to a variety of bushwalks, we chose to walk from the Solitary Restaurant to Echo Point along the clifftops and return along the Dardanelles pass, a 3 hour walk all in all. The sun was still on the garden when we returned, but we chose pre-dinner drinks inside in front of the log fire. A great place to curl up with a book, for a game of cards or a chat. Overall rat...
