Review - Belford Cabins

Belford Cabins, Hermitage Road, Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, NSW

Overview
Belford Cabins is comprised of four 2-bedroom cabins and one 4-bedroom cabin set on 25 acres of bushland in the Hunter Valley’s wine country. Perfect for a weekend or extended getaway for couples, or the whole family, this retreat is close to many wineries and lets you enjoy the great Australian outdoors.

Overall rating: Excellent in an outstanding location

What makes Belford Cabins different?
Arriving at night, I immediately enjoyed the clear view of stars from the location of the property. In the morning I woke up to birdsong (warbling magpies) with the sunshine slanting through the beautiful tall spotted gumtrees. To me, nothing could be more quintessentially Australian. The magnificent tall hardwood gum trees are frequented by numerous birds and the possums come down at night - so put your food away before going to bed!

The bush location was a great place to get away, yet it is located close to so many wineries. A group of more than one family staying in a couple of cottages would find the barbeque areas or the pool and games room ideal to get together socially.

Accommodation overview
All cabins are fully self-contained each with queen beds in the master bedrooms. Each has a covered veradah and a wood fired barbeque outside.

Facilities
Facilities included a pool, games room and children’s playground. BBQ facilities were located close to each cabin, a great cost-effective facility for family travellers and the perfect way to enjoy a great bottle of Hunter wine. Twenty-five acres gave ample room for a bush stroll.

How to Get there
Located in the Pokolbin area of the Hunter Valley on Hermitage Road, the property is around 2 hours from Sydney or 1 hour from Newcastle, located close to many wineries in the famous Hunter Valley area. The property is well sign-posted and easy to find.

Perfect for
Families or couples looking for peaceful accommodation, or a group of families staying together in separate cabins in the heart of the wine region

Children – well catered for
Pets – not allowed
Disabled access – no disabled facilities identified. Very few steps but rough paths not suitable for the frail elderly
Smoking – no smoking indoors

Pricing
From $480 for the weekend (2 nights) for up to 4 people. Midweek pricing $100 per night for 2.

Why you’d stay longer
Explore even more of the wineries, escape from the city crowds. Enjoy the mixture of rolling vineyards, and Aussie bush.

Why you wouldn’t stay
You crave crowded city sidewalks and are looking for action day and night.
