Allawah Retreat, Atherton Tablelands, Far North QLD

This award winning retreat is located on 150 acres of Australian native bush, high on a mountain ridge overlooking the Atherton Tablelands, in the Cairns Highlands, and only one hour's scenic drive to the Cairns International Airport and Great Barrier Reef departure terminals.

Allawah is an aboriginal word meaning: "sit, stay here and rest awhile".

What makes Allawah Retreat different?
At Allawah you are assured of peace, privacy and tranquillity as the retreat is located at the end of a quiet country road - no cars, no neighbours, no barking dogs… just the sounds of nature.

The spacious lodges are designed just for one couple and each is individual in design, features and character.

A comment from the guest book-
Sometimes you need quiet and luxury. A fireplace would be nice and a king-sized bed, giant spa, homemade chocolates and how about port from a crystal decanter. Allawah Retreat has all these things – beautiful tangible things - but it also has something you cannot buy or see... a sense of calm and isolation, which makes you forget your everyday life.

Features and Facilities
The spacious, fully self-contained spa lodges are individual in design and inside you will find meticulous attention to detail.

The lodges are complete with every luxury, heated deck spas, on deck BBQ’s, climate control air-conditioning and one with private plunge pool. Curl up in front of the cosy wood fire and enjoy the complimentary port, hand made chocolates and home made cookies or cook up a storm on your deck BBQ.

Learn about the wildlife with the binoculars and guidebooks provided in each lodge.

Unwind with a therapeutic massage or, when feeling more energetic, explore our self-guided walking tracks. A breakfast hamper is included for guests to cook and enjoy at their leisure, along with hot crusty bread delivered to the lodge each morning as well as weekend newspapers.

Activities/Attractions
From Allawah Retreat, explore all the attractions of the historic Atherton Tablelands, the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef and the vastness of the savannah lands west to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Your accommodation is a short drive to many quality Atherton Tableland restaurants and cafes serving fresh locally grown produce.

Enjoy shopping for antiques, local arts and crafts and jewellery, going for steam train rides, hot air ballooning, wildlife spotting, birdwatching, swimming, horseriding, rain forest walks, sightseeing, caving, exploring local weekend markets and all year round barramundi fishing on Lake Tinaroo.

Visit the Mareeba Tropical Wetlands with a wildlife reserve that offers a Twilight Reserve Safari. Enjoy historic villages like Yungaburra, old goldmines, crater lakes or the great Aussie Outback. All these Atherton Tablelands attractions are located within 40 minutes drive of your accommodation at Allawah Retreat.

Accommodation
The retreat offers three spa lodges which accommodate one couple - all have private laundries.

A hearty breakfast hamper is provided daily and includes homemade jams and hot bread delivered each day.
