Distant horizons
By Paul Blackman

New visitors cannot take the smile off their face the first time they walk out onto Oysterbayvista’s balcony. Being on top of a 45 metre cliff, the 180 degrees view extends from Port Vincent on the north horizon, over to the lights of Adelaide in the east and down to Kangaroo Island and Troubridge lighthouse in the south. Being right in front of the Stansbury jetty and boat ramps, there is usually something going on for the guests to observe as they sip on a nice cold white wine and taste the local oysters from the oyster beds, which are visible straight out in the bay. In fact it is not uncommon for many guests to spend most of their visit on the balcony, relaxing and soaking up the scenery. It is also a great vantage point to discover the locals’ fishing spots and the best... Read more

Review - Blue Breeze
By Kylie Jane Degeling

TakeABreak Awards 2009 Winner, Family-friendly Accommodation: Blue Breeze  There was once a time when families were expected to share a hotel room when they went on vacation. Together, they would squeeze into the small room, with the children sleeping on a foldout couch, floor or sharing a bed. Sure – parents could have chosen to pay for two adjoining rooms or a suite, but the expense was often prohibitive. Today, the options for economical family-friendly accommodation are endless and parents can happily take their children on holidays knowing that they can have the privacy of separate rooms, th... Riverland, South Australia
By Kylie Jane Degeling

It can seem like a contradiction in terms – a holiday destination that is perfect for families in search of fun yet also perfect for couples looking for a quiet, romantic break. However South Australia’s Riverland is just that – a place where couples can connect and relax, enjoying fine wine and food, strolls along the river bank, candlelight picnics and a quiet federation-style floating cottage built for two. Families, in contrast, can have fun at an adventure park, zip about in watercraft, try their luck at fishing, rent a paddle steamer, and frolic along the river in a manner normally reserved for nostalgic American movies. Riverland, the stretch of the Murray River between Renmark and Waikerie, is beautiful… with limestone cliffs, vineyards, art galleries, ... Read more
