How to be a happy camper
Back when I was in my late teens and early 20s, I use to regularly field the “You’re so lucky to be travelling everywhere!” type comments. It would be from a friend who’d received endless postcards from me, or a workmate in a nearby cubicle, or the person I’d stand next to at the bus stop each day, or even a stranger I’d meet at a party. I’d stare at them blankly, wondering what they meant by “luck.” If it were, “You’re lucky to live in a free country like Australia where you can safely travel,” then okay, I’d have to agree.
