Review - 9 Mile Escape

9-Mile Escape - Winner Best Beach Accommodation

While you won’t find the winner of the TakeABreak National Award for the best beach accommodation of 2008 in the place you’d expect, its surprising location only increases its charm. The Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Town for 2007, Swansea on the east coast of Tasmania, isn’t what immediately springs to mind when you think of superb oceans views, magical sunsets and soft white sand, but nonetheless 9-Mile Escape is certainly a worthy winner of this award, with its pristine beach location and superb accommodation.

The town of Swansea lies on Tassie’s ‘Sunshine Coast’, a stretch of peaceful coastline dotted with delightful historic towns and superb views that rival Victoria’s popular Great Ocean Road.  The 2007 Tidy Town winner also took out the Heritage and Culture category of the awards, which says a lot about this little town… a place with both an appreciation and respect for its natural environment as well as a rich and fascinating historical and cultural dimension.

The town sits on beautiful Great Oyster Bay and is across from the unspoilt rugged mountains of the Freycinet National Park. The property itself fronts the magical waters and sands of Nine Mile Beach, the township of Swansea being a quick 5-minute drive away. A town of great charm awaits any visitor, the locals are warm and friendly and Swansea is quaint and peaceful. The great restaurants, galleries, tennis courts, bowls club, a golf course and coffee shops will keep you busy, active and well fed. This is the ideal location to unwind and explore the charming coastline, with its oyster and berry farms, famous wineries, magical National Parks and breathtaking beaches.

With truly unforgettable views, 9-Mile Escape is just what its name suggests… the perfect beach escape. Set in an idyllic location, this beachfront house is perfect for a family getaway. The views from the open plan living area, the main deck and each of the two bedrooms make you want to run down and sink your toes into the sand – now!

This two bedroom, beautifully designed beach house, can comfortably house five adults or a three-child family. The house comes with all the little extras to make you feel at home. The Italian coffee machine (coffee, tea, sugars, syrups etc. supplied) adds an air of Mediterranean indulgence, and the fully equipped kitchen, laundry, BBQ, air-conditioning and big plasma television (DVD/CD player provided, as are a selection of CDs and DVDs) will keep everybody happy.  Mum and Dad will feel royally spoilt as they sink into their luxurious queen-size bed and gaze out at the ocean from their own private deck, and the master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe with plenty of storage space.

The second bedroom is equipped with bunk beds; the top bunk has a single mattress and the lower bunk a comfy double. Young kids are made welcome and a portacot and high chair can be provided.

9-Mile Escape will provide you with the beach escape you have been looking for in a place you mightn’t have thought to look - the pristine east coast of Tasmania. In comfort and seclusion you can let your worries wash away with the next tide and return home relaxed and rejuvenated.
