Review - Hume Villa Motor Inn

Hume Villa Motor Inn, 1324 Hume Highway, Fawkner, Melbourne, Victoria

Overview
The Hume Villa Motor Inn an unassuming motel style accommodation in Melbourne’s north. Part of the Golden Chain group, the motor inn offers a range of motel room and self-contained family and spa rooms. A new wing was built just three years ago and many of the existing rooms have been refurbished. Courtesy transport to or from the airport and location on the Hume Highway make this an easy and comfortable choice.

Overall rating: Great, with recently refurbished bathrooms topping off the experience.

What makes Hume Villa Motor Inn different?
The managers are friendly, welcoming and helpful, even late at night and early in the morning. Self contained suites and an adjacent playground make the location good for an affordable Melbourne family getaway. Right on the train line, access to the city is also easy.

Accommodation
A choice of motel style or self contained accommodation. Microwaves and toasters are also available in motel style rooms, and tea and coffee is available in all rooms. A choice of spa and large family suites are options. All rooms have queen beds.

Facilities
Standard motel facilities of air-conditioning, tea and coffee, television and bar fridge are topped with large and light rooms, refurbished bathrooms and access to an adjacent children’s playground. Spa, family and self-contained rooms are available as an option. A room service breakfast menu is available with a choice of continental and cooked options, as well as a licensed restaurant for dinner.  Also available:  wireless internet connection, Foxtel & free in-house movies.

How to get there
10 minutes from Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport, 20 minutes by taxi to the city ($30 outside of peak hours) or 40 minutes to Melbourne Central by train. Hume Villa Motor Inn is conveniently located on the Hume Highway at Fawkner, close to the intersecting M80 Western Ring Road.

Perfect for
Interstate business trips, sporting trips and affordable family trips to Melbourne.

Children – Choice of family rooms plus access to adjacent children’s playground.
Pets - No
Disabled access – Disabled units are available.
Smoking – No smoking indoors
Pricing – I paid $98 but got a free airport transfer. Standard tariffs are $89-$107 for 2 people, spa and family rooms from $155.

Why you’d stay longer – Affordable and convenient location to explore Melbourne or attend your favourite sporting event (football, Melbourne Cup etc)
Why you wouldn’t stay – You want to be in and amongst the ‘buzz’ of Melbourne nightlife.
