Review - Ambleside on the Lake

Ambleside on the Lake is a very pretty guest house/B&B, overlooking Lake Daylesford. At only 75 minutes drive from Melbourne, it’s the perfect place for a weekend escape from the city.

Overall rating: Excellent with an Outstanding location

What makes Ambleside on the Lake different?
With its antique furniture and period charm, full cooked breakfasts and complimentary port/sherry, Ambleside is the perfect place for couples to relax and enjoy a quality weekend away. And if you forget your supplies, wine and beer can be purchased from your friendly but unobtrusive hosts, Lynda and Frank, who are also very informative about special nights in the local restaurants.

Accommodation overview
The accommodation is made up of three queen-sized guestrooms. Each has a large ensuite, and two rooms provide additional single beds. One room has private access to deck.

Facilities overview
Each room has tea and coffee provisions (plunger coffee and a selection of tea bags).

There is a large L-shaped communal area, consisting of formal lounge area, dining area and casual sitting room complete with television and large gas heater. There is also a large outdoor deck with tables and chairs overlooking the lake and a lovely garden.

Car parking is available right by the front door!

Location
Ambleside is located just one or two minutes drive away from the centre of Daylesford, which has galleries, restaurants and shops to visit. Or you can walk around the lake, explore the area by car or, if you have the time, enjoy the many and varied spa treatments on offer in Daylesford and Hepburn springs.

Suitable for children: No
Suitable for pets: No
Wheelchair access: No

Perfect for…
Couples wanting a relaxing getaway from the city. Our favourite activities in the local area included walks around the lake, visiting galleries, shops and restaurants, driving and visiting the mineral springs.
Best of all, however, we enjoyed sitting on the deck of the property in the peace and quiet, admiring the view of the lake. We’ll be back, for sure.

Prices: $165 - $250/ couple per night
