Review - Oscars at Avalon

Oscars at Avalon
Charlie’s Rd, Hepburn Springs

A Star Gazer’s Heaven!

At only 80 minutes drive from Melbourne, Oscars at Avalon makes the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. All the little touches made us feel immediately welcome: as we walked through the door, soft music was playing, there was red wine on the table and we discovered chocolates in the fridge.

Overall rating: Great

What makes Oscars different?

Oscars is different because of its wonderfully isolated bush setting and views of the night sky: you can watch the kangaroos drink at the dam by day and star gaze by night.

Accommodation overview
Oscars is a self-contained studio, with queen-size bedroom and ensuite, with enormous spa bath (complete with bubble bath) and large shower recess.

Facilities overview
Oscars provides continental and cooked breakfast provisions, including fresh eggs. There are two private outdoor deck areas which overlook the dam and surrounding bush.

Location
Take the Western Highway from Melbourne, and turn right after Ballan to Daylesford. Head 3 km to Hepburn Springs and turn left in the village. Cross Break Neck Gorge and take Charlie’s Rd, a dirt road on the right. At the property, turn into the driveway which says Avalon on the gate and the cottage is on the left attached to a carport.

Suitable for children?: No
Suitable for pets?: No
Wheelchair access?: No

Perfect for
Couples wanting a true bush experience and total privacy.

We also enjoyed exploring the surrounding area with all its restaurants, galleries, shops, wineries and mineral springs.

Why you’d stay longer?
To take in the many and varied spa treatments that are on offer in the area.

Prices:$150 - $200/night/couple
