  • Breathtaking countryside

8 Cook Street
Gloucester  NSW

Quality accommodation in a beautiful setting on the banks of the Gloucester River

Overall rating?        Outstanding

What makes Gloucester Art House different?
This is a fantastic house in a bushland setting that abounds with birdlife.  The Gloucester River runs through the bottom of the property, giving you all the ambience of being deep in the country, yet within a short walk to town. The art works displayed throughout the house give it a magical feeling and everything is supplied to ensure you have a great stay.

Accommodation overview
There are two bedrooms with queen-size beds, the main has an ensuite, there is a double bed on the landing on the way up to the art studio and there is a futon in the studio.  The property can sleep up to 4 couples.  Each room has quality linen and doonas, fat fluffy towels and heating.

Facilities overview
There are two lovely decks, both offering wonderful bushland views and one has classic Adirondack chairs which are perfect for relaxing with a book and cup of tea, or glass of wine. Birds abound and come to feed and keep you company while you relax on the deck.  The river is at the back of the property and is perfect for throwing a line or just listening to while relaxing on the deck – bliss! - and you can always cook your catch on the kettle BBQ.  There is a combustion fire (wood supplied), flat screen HD TV, DVD and CD player (with library supplied) and the kitchen is fully equipped with the staples you will need for your stay.

Location
From Sydney take the F3, which becomes the Pacific Highway, and continue through Hexham and Heatherbrae.  After about two hours on the road turn left at Bucketts Way and follow this for about one hour until Gloucester.  The property is a short distance from Church Street, the main street through town.

Suitable for children?      Yes, although the river frontage, stairs and decks mean it could be hazardous for children younger than about 7 years old

Suitable for pets?              Yes, but check with the operators as there are chickens in the yard, so not suitable for all dogs.

Wheelchair access?         Possible to the ground floor, check when enquiring.

Perfect for?
An ideal getaway for couples or a group of friends, or a family without small children.  The area abounds with things to do, so the Art House would be an ideal place for a school holiday stay or a long weekend.

Why stay longer?
To enjoy the many delights of the area… horse-riding, bushwalks, fishing, cafes and restaurants, produce providers such as the Goat Cheese farm, or to try your hand at an original work of art in the upstairs studio.

Why you wouldn’t stay longer?
Can’t think of any reason not to stay longer – even if rained the whole time the house is so well set-up and so welcoming that you wouldn’t feel you needed to move on.

Pricing
$130 per night per couple or $230 per night for two couples, $50 extra per person per night (2 nights min stay) Mid-week and long term rates available. $25 surcharge per pet per stay.  Check the listing for more information.
